Scheduling

Creighton rumored to be in the Cayman Islands Classic next year with IL St., Clemson, Georgia, St. Bonaventure and a holiday tournament experience we are unfortunately more used to. (terribly produced streaming of games, mid-major/mediocre high-major competition)

Please help me understand how/why this happens. Are we in some sort of contract where this is taken out of our hands? Do the coaches prefer being in events where the best competition are poor to mediocre high-major programs (Clemson, NC St., Ole Miss, Wazzu, Rutgers, AZ St.)? Am I just having selective memory and this is par for the course to have some great events (like KC this year) mixed in with some bad ones?

2013 - Wooden=OK, 2014 - Emerald Coast=bad, 2015 - Vegas=bad, 2016 - Paradise Jams VI=OK, 2017 - HOF KC=Good

It would be nice to be in Maui, Battle 4 Atlantis, NIT in the coming years.

Attendance

The attendance last night was 15069. It was closer to 12-13000 in actual attendance. This year we are averaging around 15500 paid tickets. We have 3 more cupcakes left at home in the non-con (I am not counting Neb or UTA). We will struggle to reach 17000 average attendance this year. I know part of this is that people are waiting for the conference to begin, but part of this is the type of teams we are bringing in with the nonconference schedule. We have played 4 teams who were ranked at the time we played them (none at home) and yet our RPI is around 64, one of the lowest in the BE. This lack of people in the seats should really concern the administration. We need to upgrade our home schedule or this erosion will continue. We have way too many games at home that do not appear to appeal to the casual fan. I'm all for some cupcakes, but we have to do better than this year's schedule

The four

We have 5 home games left in the non con. All games we will be favored in. (UTA will be tough. And I always worry about the NU game) So something I'm watching for as we go thru this stretch. How will the rotation be at the four?

I would guess everyone would want to stay with Ronnie starting at the 4. But now with Toby back will that continue? Will Mac go with experience vs production? Sure there will be a lot of situational stuff but in general which way do you think he will go?

Thoughts

Brian Tugs Bowen

Since the 2017 Recruiting thread is getting a little long I figured we might as well start a thread for Tugs. He will be in Omaha Friday through Sunday and will be here with his parents. Tugs had a good time at his Arizona and NC State visits and now it is Creighton's turn. UCLA is out of the picture.

Just a reminder Tugs came for an unofficial last season and was at the Creighton Xavier game. Hopefully the UMKC game Friday has a decent atmosphere since it's the home opener.

UNO game thread

Here is the first game thread of the year. Some things we have planned for Thursday:

1- We will have thoughts, comments and updates right here on this thread throughout the game for those that are out town and for those that cant attend.
2-Ravi and I will again this year do our postgame video where we give you our instant takes on the game courtside right after the buzzer sounds. If you follow BJB on twitter you can find the video there 10 minutes after the end of the game. You can also find it on Facebook and and shortened version on Instagram.
3-We will record the entire press conference and post after its conclusion
4-Although there is a radio broadcast there is no pre or postgame show. So we are going to conduct a postgame show on Facebook Live. Just pull up our Facebook page and you can view our postgame show live from the arena. You can comment or ask questions by posting on our Facebook page and we can answer them on the broadcast. The video will remain on the page so you can view it at a later time. We will go live about 20 minutes after the game.
We are using this as a trial and if this goes well we will use this vehicle do many more of these through the season and with other sports as well.
5-Once again we will have our tongue in cheek game previews. The Omaha preview is now posted on the front page.

Also once the games begin to be televised Ravi and I will do an X's and O's breakdown weekly on video where we take you inside the game and show you why plays work, and why they don't work. More to come on this.

We are excited about our coverage this season and hope you are too. We have added interns to help us to enhance the quality and quantity of our coverage. Enjoy the season and as always if you have any suggestions let us know.

P.S.
From a recruiting perspective, we are in the process of gathering a ton of info on the next few seasons recruiting classess. We should have the info from the staff shortly and when we do Ravi will breakdown each class along with targets, offers and how we predict it all to shake out.

Thanks as always for your support. Again pass along the word about our Facebook postgame--thanks!

Prospect Reports

Hey, I wanted to float an idea out there and see what kind of interest there would be. I have a background in recruiting and player evaluation at the small college level. I was wondering if there would be any interest in having me do some reports either here on the boards or as premium articles. I would get a list of the 5-10 top prospects for 2018 and then go through their game film and do a scouting report on them basically. I could also do similar reports for the 2017 guys that are starting in the fall as part of my summer league coverage as well. Please share any thoughts or ideas and if you have any interest in this idea. Just trying to come up with some ideas to add value and content to our site. Thanks!
