2024-25 BJB show/podcasts

Today we officially kick off the season of shows and our coverage of the 2024-25 season. Lots of cool stuff still in the works but can share this much with you so far.

First BJB Monday show kicks off today live at 6pm. We will have the newest grad assistant and longtime friend of the show Jahenns Manigat on to discuss his journey after CU what he has seen with this years team so far. We will also update fall sports and introduce some new things as well.

We will have a new segment on a regular basis called Dumb Basketball questions. Now first the questions really aren't "dumb" but to players n coaches they probably seem like it. These are questions about the inside workings of the basketball team and program and everything that goes into it. It can be anything at all that you may have wondered about. It may be what the strength n conditioning looks like, nutrition questions, how much time do coaches spend at the facilities, what do road trips look like, what do halftimes in the locker room look like etc. It can also be game day production related- keep these on a factual level (in other words don't ask a question like why is the blue crew still there?) To give you an idea we are going to kick it off with this question tonight--How does the academic schedule work for a player so that it doesn't interfere with the basketball activities during the season and all of the logistics that go with it??

You send questions via DM here, DM us on twitter or send an email to Bluejaybanter@gmail.com. We will get to your questions in the order they are entered. We will only use first names when asking the question. We are opening this up to the general public via social media as well.

Second, we are giving fans the opportunities to come on during a segment, give their opinions and ask questions. I know no one likes to come out from behind the computer screen but this will be a lot of fun and give us a chance to interact with viewers. Prizes for appearances. Contact us if interested in the ways we listed above.

We are also going to get our bold predictions segment going again. If you have any predictions on anything related to Creighton hoops give it a shot. We will keep track thru the season and the winner will win a prize yet to be determined. It can be game related. the whole season, it can be team or individual related, we will also take predictions on Big East teams and college teams at large. again contact us as listed above.

Excited about the season of shows and hope you watch!

Indiana Coaching Search

Here is what they (Peegs.com) are saying about Mac.

UPDATE (March 9): Coaching chatter still suggests he's one of the options that IU could land. He's not getting as much buzz as some others, but there is enough there right now for him to remain on the Hot Board.

Current position: Head coach of Creighton

Head coaching record: 496-300 (62.3 percent) in 24 years at Northern Iowa, Iowa State, and Creighton

Why this makes sense: McDermott, 60, wins at a high level. He has made Creighton a nationally relevant program. The Blue Jays have made the NCAA Tournament in six of seven years, and it would be seven of eight years if the event was held in 2020.

McDermott only has one losing season at Creighton in 15 complete seasons.

McDermott wanted out of Creighton before signing a new contract. His current deal pays McDermott $2.9 million a season.

With Ryan Kalkbrenner, Steven Ashworth, and Jamiya Neal ready to move on next year, this could still be a good time for McDermott to look at a new situation.

What concerns could there be?: McDermott struggled at Iowa State. He never had a winning record in four seasons with the Cyclones. His son, Doug, came to Creighton as a freshman in Greg first season and helped build the program. McDermott would not have that luxury this time.

McDermott would likely give Indiana stability, but he has only reached the Sweet Sixteen three times in his career, and the Elite Eight once.

Lousiville thread

It's tough not to feel like we got hosed. Lousiville is definitely better than an 8 seed, playing in basically a home game. I know we're not great, but a 9 seed is disrespected. Then, the top overall seed in the second round. I mean, the committee considered us closer to a 10 seed than an 8 seed.

Oh well, we beat them once in the tourney, we can beat them again. Chucky is going to be a lot to deal with.
