I know this is very long but please read and respond.

Hard to believe we are beginning year three of bluejaybanter.com. First we can’t thank you enough for your support of the site. When we started there were just a hand full of members and with your help we have grown the site. We realize that there are many, many more Jays fans who would love this site, enjoy the information and be a good fit on our message boards. Our number one goal this year is to get the word out and increase the membership. We all have a stake in this and of course increased membership would mean we would be able to provide increased coverage in both recruiting and CU sports coverage as well as adding more discussion topics daily to the message board. Heath, Ravi and I all have other jobs and even though it may not seem like it simply doing a baseball recap or a basketball preview can take a fair amount of time. The more members the more means we have to add personnel to increase the coverage. But again thanks so much to all of you for your continued support of this site. We really do appreciate it greatly.

We would really like to get feedback from each and every one of you on what you would like to see on this site. After all it’s your site so you should be driving the content. This can be anything from articles, video and audio product to message board topics. Please feel free to leave your responses here or if you feel more comfortable you can email us either at bluejaybanter@gmail.com or to me at bluejaybantertim@yahoo.com.

Here are some topics to think about and questions to answer-
  • The free message board. This is a board that rarely (if ever) has been used. We have discussed just eliminating it. However I think it may be a valuable tool in recruiting new members. For instance right now if you come to the site and are just beginning to think about joining you see no activity on the free board so you just assume there is no activity on the premium board. By actively starting some general discussion topics there it would increase interest. And then when the opportunity arises, say on a basketball topic, posting something like “hey we have some premium information on a recruit”. Well if I’m not a member and this happens a few times I’m going to get curious and just say screw it, I’ll give up three beers a month and use the money to join so I can see what’s going on.
  • How do you feel about our recruiting info? I think Heath has done a top notch job and by my count has yet to be wrong on a situation—which should tell all of us his sources are pretty damn good. We plan to expand on a smaller level to other key sports, baseball, volleyball and soccer. What else would you like to see? Do you like the recruit interviews? I know Heath is going to try to go to an AAU event this summer when some targets are playing. Would that be of interest?

  • Basketball off season coverage we plan to once again cover the summer league. Do you find these articles informative? What else would you like to see us do?
  • Basketball season-how is our coverage now? We made a decision when we started this site to not do game by game recaps. We just felt all the time that is invested in this is not worth it since you can get a recap from the OWH, WBR and many other national sites. Do you all agree? We do the previews as more of a fun thing—the info is not very heavy and we thought it would be fun just to write about our opponents and fun facts about their teams and cities. Do you like these or are they a bore? (be nice)

  • We will continue to post links for both our show and the postgames. We know these seem to be liked as we get plenty of feedback when they aren’t posted. We plan to go heavier into video this year. We have done brief 3-5 minute video recaps on the floor immediately after the games. Do you like these and would you like to see more? Every newspaper and website have increased the number of videos over the last year so obviously they are popular among the masses if done right. What would you like to see on them? Also would you like more photos?
  • Along the same lines we toyed with the idea of doing a BJB overtime segment right after our radio show shot in the studio—taking the hottest topic of the show and spending a few more minutes on. Thoughts? We are planning to do some live streaming feeds from courtside after the games.

  • How about our feature articles—etc-scheduling, five big questions etc. More or less of these. How about multi part series like we did with a Day in the Life of CU hoops. We never really got any feedback on that one so we are not sure what you guys thought. We put a ton of time into so if it was not received we would like to know so we can use our resources elsewhere. If it was well liked we’d be glad to do more

  • And finally message board. Is current set up fine? Should we divide sports up? I personally like that you can go to one spot and see everything. What other premium / keep this on the board type stuff would you like to hear?

Sorry for making this so long but wanted to get all this out there. Add anything you like –all ideas are welcome. Please let us know your thoughts.

And again thanks so much for your support. We want to improve this site for you.
