Elmar retires from college coaching. Jays move quickly and move Johnny Torres to head coach. Excellent move.
I know nothing about soccer but wonder if Elmar's style doesn't mesh well with the players of today. He is very old school. That being said loved talking to him and listening to his stories.
My favorite was one about one of his trips to the Alaskan wilderness. He would go on these trips, dropped off by a seaplane with nothing but some supplies , a tent and a canoe. He took along another D1 coach on a trip a couple of years ago. As the plane left after dropping them off he sensed that the "city boy" as he called him, was wondering what he got into. Elmar comforted him by saying "well for the rest of your life you will never forget the feeling of total fear inside you when that plane left".
