Strengths:
Caldwell is a true pass first point guard that pushes the ball and plays with great pace. He has a great feel for the game and gets his teammates involved early and often with his penetration and drive, draw and kick or drop off passes. His ability to get into the lane at will allows him to make plays at end of clock situations or when the original offensive plan breaks down. Caldwell is is strong for his size and with the ball. He can make open shots when his feet are set with range to the arc. Defensively Caldwell applies excellent ball pressure and works to keep his defender in front of him.
Weaknesses:
At times Caldwell will over penetrate and pass up wide open layups and he must continue to work on his jump shot in addition to staying in complete control of his team throughout the game and keep working on his off the ball defense. All in which he is very capable.
Bottom Line:
Caldwell has all the necessary tools to be an excellent pass first point guard and can keep the defense honest enough with his ability to make open shots. We are projecting Caldwell as a high major minus prospect considering where he is now and where he can be with continued development and consistent play as least mid major plus.
